SIGGRAPH - a must to attend if you are looking to find work in, and understand the CGI industry. SIGGRAPH is a great job market. I also recommend that you attend the summer before you graduate and the summer after.
BDA - Broadcast Designers Association - is THE Motion Graphics conference. It has a very small exhibits floor, is quite expensive if you want to attend the discussions which is what its all about, but it is the one conference that still seems to mostly about art and the craft of creating for ones field.
IBC - International Broadcasting Convention - Amsterdam, top European CGI conference
NAB - National Association of Broadcasters primarily a conference best suited to Video/Film or Motion Graphics majors, but some good tools for Post and FX, Discreet is a major exhibitor and offer free drinks and a good meetig place at shows end each day.
